On approximately 200 timbered acres south of Bozeman, Ranch Resources designed and implemented a plan that enhances the structure in Douglas-fir forests. Large trees are retained in the stand, while thinning out the smaller trees, mimicking a forest structure that was more common in the area. In addition to Douglas-fir stand enhancements, aspen stands in the area are also enhanced by removing conifers from within the stand, and from around the stand. This practice increases light and aspen health. Project Lead: Chuck Bowey
